Vista High School

Vista High School originally opened in 1936 in downtown Vista and moved to its current location in 1972. A variety of academic programs serve the diverse student body there. These include International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, English language development, AVID and special education. The school’s visual and performing arts department promotes understanding of culture and art, while athletic and extracurricular programs provide another way for students to get involved.

Vista High serves nearly 2,700 students with a three-period block schedule, which has students attend three of their six classes on alternating days. Each day also includes an extended learning period where students have an opportunity to attend tutorials, study halls, special courses and extracurricular activities. On most days, students also get a 20-minute period set aside for reading a book of their choice.

The 45-acre campus includes a comprehensive library, career center, art gallery, culinary-arts kitchen, agriculture center, auto shop, 126-seat theater and a 7,000-seat artificial turf stadium.
