Pairing Picture Books and Apps for Intervention (Live webinar transmitted from ASHA - group session hosted at NCCSE)

Sean J. Sweeney, MS, MEd, CCC-SLP

Picture books and interactive apps can be invaluable tools for planning intervention activities that are engaging and relevant to classroom content. Picture books have a long history of support as a treatment tool; clinicians can select fun, humorous picture books that include relevant classroom or social contexts, discourse structures, critical sentence structures, and vocabulary to engage students across grade levels.

Self-Injury: Understanding & Helping Students Who Cut or Burn Themselves

Lisa Boesky, Ph.D/M.A., Psychologist, National Speaker & Author

Increasing numbers of students are cutting, scratching, hitting or burning themselves to feel better.

Self-Injury is often confused with suicide-though these behaviors are very different. Despite wanting to do the right thing, school professionals (and family members) can inadvertently worsen self-injurious behavior if never shown effective ways to support these young these people.

Join us for a three-hour practical presentation with photos, video clips and real-life case examples.
