Carol Weise Herrera

Carol Herrera was elected to the board in 2002, shortly after retiring from a 42-year career as a teacher and principal. Ms. Herrera is currently serving as vice president of the Board. She also worked to help pass Proposition O, the $140 million school-construction bond district voters approved in 2002.

She lives near Brengle Terrace Park in Vista and represents Trustee Area 2, which includes the eastern portion of the district. She has lived in the area for 35 years. Her son graduated from Vista High School in 1999.

As a trustee, she said she always has placed an emphasis on literacy.

“What I have always had as a priority is that children become very efficient and effective readers,” she said.
